What is ActionBox.ai?
ActionBox.ai is an AI-native task management platform built for modern teams and individual power users. Unlike traditional project tools, ActionBox uses artificial intelligence to automatically categorize, prioritize, and surface the most relevant tasks at any given moment.

Web Development
As the Lead Designer, I was responsible for the complete end-to-end UX from initial research and user flows to high-fidelity UI, design system, and handoff documentation.
Why do task tools fail?
Through user interviews and competitive analysis, three core pain points emerged that existing tools consistently failed to address.
Tool Fragmentation
Teams use an average of 4–6 different tools for tasks, communication, and tracking. Context-switching kills focus and leads to missed deliverables.
Priority Blindness
Without intelligent prioritization, users spend 40+ minutes daily just deciding what to work on — not actually working on it.
Passive Task Tracking
Existing tools are passive repositories. They wait for users to update them. ActionBox should actively surface what matters and prompt action.
What success looks like
Clear design objectives guided every decision — from information architecture to micro-interactions.
Reduce Time-to-Task: A user should be able to see their most important task within 5 seconds of opening the dashboard zero clicks required.
Progressive Disclosure: Show only what's relevant right now. Details and advanced options appear when needed, keeping the UI clean and focused.
AI Transparency: When the AI makes decisions about priority or categorization, users should understand why maintaining trust and control.
Accessibility First: WCAG 2.1 AA compliance throughout. High-contrast modes, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader compatibility built in from the start.
Scalable Design System: Build a component library in Figma that the engineering team can implement consistently reducing design-to-dev friction.
Delight in Details: Subtle animations, satisfying task-completion states, and thoughtful empty states make daily use feel rewarding rather than chore-like.
What I took away
AI features need extra transparency design
Early testers were confused when the AI reordered their tasks without explanation. Adding a small "Why?" tooltip that surfaced the AI's reasoning immediately increased trust scores by 40% in our second round of testing.
Density is a feature, not a flaw
Power users explicitly wanted more information on screen not less. The final design leans into an information-rich layout, using visual hierarchy and color to manage cognitive load rather than hiding data behind clicks.
Design system investment pays dividends immediately
Building a comprehensive component library in Figma upfront took an extra week but cut design iteration time by 60% in later sprints every new screen could be assembled from existing, tested components.
Onboarding sets the mental model for everything
The sign-in screen's social proof panel (showing a real testimonial) primed new users to expect an intelligent, automation-forward tool which reduced "feature discovery" issues in the main dashboard significantly.
